Alien abduction
An old friend contacted Max about a wasting brain disease affecting a mutual friend. After an investigation it became clear that the victims of this disease were simply the failures in a brain altering technique being used by Eldar to control people's minds and turn them into slaves.
The Mission
Max and Acid were asked to meet agent Corustus Thele, an old undercover agent of Inquisitor Kovach who had finally come in out of the cold. They were joined by Míra. Whilst getting to know him, Max was contacted by an old friend and the otheres offere to join him.
A mutual friend was suffereing fomr a brain disease, one of hundreds in the local area with similar symptoms. Oskar was asked to take a look and confirmed it was not contageous but somehting hwas causing his brian to re-write itself into something else, and the rpocess was making him sick and burning up all his energy reserves. Eventually patients would fall intoa coma and die as they were bruning through their energy and unable to take in more. The brian was irrevecably destroyed.
Investigation revealed it was being cause by a new gaming console, and the company that produced it were being funded by a mysterious donor. The victims were actually the 10% of people who it was failing on. 50% were unnnafected, but the remaining 40% were "successful" and they were feeling compelled to get themselves offworld. The team followed them, with Corustus taking quite a risk to pose as one of them, and intercepted an Aeldari ship trying to collected them near a moon in the Dheneb system. The ship was driven off by the fleet of the nearby Mechanicus but two aeldari pirates and a shuttle were captured.
