Neophrae
This sub-sector of the Eridani Sector is not currently held by the Imperium at all. Indeed, the Neophrae are barely mentioned in historical records beyond ancient references in some Massylean systems' histories. These mention trade with a coreward region, but those references dry up by the start of M36. The only system named in these records is Neophron, thought to be the capital world of a non-Imperial human culture. Given the potential opportunity for expansion, an explorator flotilla of one cruiser and its six escorts departed in 579.M40 for the star system assumed to be Neophron.
The flotilla was never heard from; nor was a follow-up expedition mounted in 613.M40. With vessels being in short supply at the time, further endeavours were not considered. Only in recent years, as the sponsorship model has produced a larger but more fragmented Battlefleet Eridani, has anyone begun to express further interest in this region.
